Ray Peterson is temporarily unable to work because of back and shoulder injuries. For Ray, GA-U has provided a vital link to medical care. He is eager to return to work, and with the help of a primary care provider and physical therapy, his condition is gradually improving. If the legislature time-limits medical benefits for people like Ray, it will interrupt their care, thereby preventing or delaying their return to work.
Save Washington Health Programs
NoHLA has just produced a new video of three Washington residents who rely on publicly funded health programs, demonstrating the need to maintain these programs. Please help us distribute this widely. You can also see us on YouTube!
The Basic Health program is the only affordable option for individuals like Susan McGregor and has been a lifeline for her and over 100,000 others.
Currently over 93,000 people are on the Basic Health waiting list. Many, like Rebecca Rook, have serious health issues but no insurance. They live on the precipice, just steps away from potential disaster.
Many seniors and people with disabilities, like Jared Dolly, depend on so called “optional” Medicaid services. For them, the services they receive are necessary, not optional.
We have sent a message with the video link to all legislators, the Governor, and other policymakers to remind them, as they consider budget options and new revenue sources, that their constituents depend on Medicaid, Basic Health, and other publicly-funded health programs.
Thanks to Metier Productions for their videography and Community Health Network of Washington for its support.
